Highest dam in India It’s a Tehri Dam (reservoir) and one of the highest in the world. It is a many purpose rock and earth-fill dike (tatabandh) dam on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand, India. It is the major dam of the THDC (Tehri Hydro Development Corporation) India Ltd. and the Tehri hydroelectric complex. Phase 1 was completed in 2006.

In Hindi: भारत में सबसे ऊंचा बांध यह एक तेहरी बांध (जलाशय) है और दुनिया में सबसे ज्यादा है। भारत के उत्तराखंड में तेहररी के पास भागीरथी नदी पर यह कई उद्देश्य रॉक और पृथ्वी भरने वाली डाइक (ताकतंध) बांध है। यह टीएचडीसी (तेहरी हाइड्रो डेवलपमेंट कॉरपोरेशन) इंडिया लिमिटेड और तेहरी जलविद्युत परिसर का प्रमुख बांध है। चरण 1 2006 में पूरा हुआ था।
